MindCraft, with the support of ITEAHub, successfully hosted its highly anticipated TechTalk, “Data Science: Complicated Stuff in Simple Words,” on May 29th, attracting a diverse audience of students, scientists, software engineers, and business professionals eager to unravel the complexities of Data Science.
The event, designed to make Data Science accessible and understandable, featured two insightful presentations by MindCraft’s experts.

Alex Simkiv, in his session, “How to Try Yourself in the Role of a Data Scientist,” shared his personal journey and demystified the field, emphasizing that Data Science is not merely programming. He addressed common misconceptions, outlined essential skills beyond English proficiency, and revealed practical knowledge that textbooks often overlook. He also addressed the common question of the necessity of advanced math and expensive equipment, reassuring the audience that data science is achievable for those with diverse backgrounds. His talk provided a structured roadmap for aspiring Data Scientists.
Andy Bosyi followed with a captivating presentation, “From Machine Learning to Quantum Computing,” offering a glimpse into the inner workings of machine learning and the exciting possibilities of quantum computing. He explained how machines “see” during training, the shift in programmer’s thinking, and the intriguing world of quantum effects, including the Schrödinger cat. Andy also explored the application of quantum computers in machine learning and even humorously touched on the possibility of building a quantum computer at home.
The event served as a valuable platform for attendees to engage directly with the speakers, fostering insightful discussions and providing answers to burning questions about Data Science.
